Capt Evan Murray

Captain Evan L Murray, was born in Winnipeg Manitoba and joined the Royal Canadian Air Cadet program in September of 1996 as a member of the 6 Jim Whitecross Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron. There he participated in several of the programs offered including the Drill Team and the Band. During his five years with 6 Squadron he attained the rank of Warrant Officer 2nd Class, led the band becoming Drum Major, competed with the Squadron’s Drill Team and created the Squadrons first web-site. He attended summer training courses in Penhold, AB, Cold Lake, AB, Borden, ON and Trenton, ON.

In 2003 Captain Murray began volunteering with the newly formed 199 St Vital RCACS as the band officer and joined the Cadet Instructors Cadre as an Officer Cadet in 2004. He has since assumed the roles of Training Officer, Deputy Commanding Officer and Unit Human Rights Advisor attaining the rank of Captain. He has received training as a General Safety Officer, Environmental Officer, and Range Safety Officer for both Air rifles and Small Bore rifles. In the summer of 2008 he worked as an Air Traffic Advisor and General Safety Officer for the Regional Gliding School in Gimli, MB.

Evan was appointed as the Commanding Officer of 199 Squadron in May 2011.
