Introduction of Tempest and Viper Flights

posted Aug 30, 2018, 2:20 PM by 199 St Vital RCACS

We are proud to announce that our Squadron has grown to the point of being the 4th largest Cadet Unit in the Northwest Region.  With this new growth we have decided to create two new Flights within the Squadron to help accommodate these new Cadets, Tempest Flight and Viper Flight.

Tempest Flight represents the Hawker Tempest, a British fighter aircraft used primarily in the Second World War.

Used as a low level interceptor, the Tempest was effective in it's role to counter both aerial and ground level threats.

Tempest Flight will be joining A Squadron on Parade under the direction of their Flight Commander, Flight Sergeant Reeve.

 Viper Flight
represents the Avro 552 Viper, a Canadian built trainer aircraft used by military forces around the world and adopted by the RCAF to be used for forestry patrol.

This modified use represents our Squadron well with our focus on Aircrew and Wilderness Survival.

Viper Flight will be joining 'B' Squadron on parade under the direction of their Flight Commander, Flight Sergeant Vernon.

Jerseys for Humboldt Authorized

posted Apr 12, 2018, 12:45 PM by 199 St Vital RCACS

Today, Canadians across the country donned sports jerseys as a gesture to show their support for the Humboldt Broncos hockey team following last week’s tragic events in Saskatchewan.

To show our support for the Broncos, Captain Murray has authorized the wearing of sports jerseys by cadets and staff of the squadron today, April 12. For those of you who decide to participate, I encourage you to share imagery of your jerseys on social media and tag the @StVitalCadets and @NWCadets Facebook accounts.

Uniforms are still required this evening. No one should be wearing a jersey while travelling to and from squadron this evening, but may wear it overtop their uniform upon arrival.

Our condolences go out to all the players, families and friends affected by this tragedy.
